The Municipal Clerk's Office is the official keeper of City and Borough of Juneau government records. Juneau operates under the Alaska Public Records Act (AS 40.25.100), which gives agencies 10 working days to provide an initial response. The response can be the records themselves, a denial with explanation, a request for more information, or a cost estimate for large requests. The CBJ fee schedule for standard copies is $0.25 per page. Certified copies cost $5.00 plus $0.25 per page. If a request requires more than 5 staff hours of work in a calendar month, the city charges the actual personnel cost for the time over 5 hours.
